We’re Making Some Changes

At Clink, we know our responsibilities go beyond the walls of our hostels. We’re a team of well-travelled folk so having a positive impact on the local community and the wider world is important to us. That’s why we have decided to review our working practices and start our journey to become a certified B-Corporation.

What is B Corporation certification?

Certifying as a B Corporation goes beyond product- or service-level certification. B Corp Certification is the only certification that measures a company’s entire social and environmental performance. The B Impact Assessment evaluates how a company’s operations and business model impact workers, community, environment, and customers.

Over the next 12-18 months we will be working towards:

Reducing inequality

We will do this by reviewing our recruitment process to ensure inclusivity and diversity. We will also look to recruit locally and increase opportunities for candidates from underrepresented categories.

Fostering communities

To show support to the local communities surrounding our hostels we’ll be offering access to our facilities free of charge and ramping up our charitable efforts by organising and sponsoring local charity events. We’ll also be providing internship opportunities for people looking to gain relevant industry experience. 

Creating more high-quality jobs

We will also be putting measures in place to ensure our team members have access to industry training to further their careers and offer promotions to increase our staffs transfer value.

Becoming more sustainable 

We will do this by reducing the amount of waste we produce and improving the way we dispose of it, as well as using sustainable materials, reducing single-use plastics and minimising water and energy consumption. We are also looking to partner with charities and using surplus food from markets. Furthermore, we will be addressing our housekeeping practices and reducing the use of hazardous chemicals. 

Greening our supply chain

By increasing the use of local and environmentally friendly suppliers. 

Promoting walking tourism:

Through our marketing campaigns and initiatives we will encourage guests to explore the locations we operate in by foot and to travel by train or greener methods of transportations where possible. We are also looking to support travellers looking to volunteer with charities a number of free stays in our hostel.
