1. Holland Festival

When? End of May to end of June
Where? Various locations is Amsterdam

The Holland Festival started in 1947, and has been hosted in Amsterdam once a year since, from the end of May to the end of June.
It is the largest of all Holland’s festivals due to the range of its events. As a result, it draws thousands of locals and tourists (it is recommended to book accommodation in advance). The festival’s outstanding quality in music, opera, theatre, and dance is well renowned among the world’s specialists.

2. Amsterdam Open Air

When? 3rd and 4th of June
Where? Gaasperpark

For the past ten years, Amsterdam Open Air (AOA) has been held at Amsterdam’s Gaasperpark on the first weekend of June. A group of creative trailblazers collaborate to produce a fashion forward festival that highlights the capital city’s nightlife and art scene while also providing a platform for local talent.

3. Open Garden Days

Where? 25 gardens in Amsterdam
When? The third June weekend

There are several private gardens in Amsterdam, many of which are not open to the public. However, in June 2023, you can visit several of these as part of Open Garden Days. Ticket price TBC

4. Bacchus Wine Festival

When? June 2nd-4th and 9th-11th
Where? Amsterdamse Bos
How much? Tickets from €17.50

Consider attending this festival in the Amsterdamse Bos on the weekends of June 2nd – 4th and 9th – 11th, 2023, if you’re looking to discover new wines. Taste more than 300+ different wines from all over the world, and combine it with the tastiest dishes and best stories.

5. IJ Hallen

When? 17th-18th of June
Where? NDSM-Plein 1, 1033 WC Amsterdam-Noord
How much? €6

IJ-Hallen is a huge warehouse in Amsterdam’s Noord district that is home to Europe’s biggest flea market. In the summer, when the weather is good, most of the stalls are outside, so bargain hunters can rummage around for treasure in the sunshine. Glorious!

6. Visit Hortus Botanicus

When? Open all year
Where? Hortus Botanicus, Plantage Middenlaan 2a
How much? Tickets €9

Amsterdam’s botanical garden is one of the oldest in the world and home to around six thousand kinds of tropical and indigenous trees and plants. Wander around the huge green houses and open air gardens and enjoy the welcome respite of this green oasis. If you’re looking for a little insider knowledge make sure you join the free tour which takes places every Sunday at 2pm.

7. Europe’s Highest Swing

Where? Amsterdam Roest, Czaar Peterstraat 213

Scared of heights? Then this one isn’t for you… Just a minutes’ walk from ClinkNOORD in A’DAM Tower in Amsterdam Noord, you’ll find ‘Europe’s Highest Swing.’ This activity is not for the faint hearted – but it is a whole lot of fun. Promise! Grab your best friend, get strapped in and swing away, soaring over the city. If you can bear to open your eyes, the views are pretty spectacular too. 8. Amsterdam Roest

Amsterdam Roest is a cool place to hang out – particularly on a nice sunny day. Grab a few friends and head down to their ‘city beach.’ With a relaxed, industrial vibe you’ll have no problem whiling away the afternoon with a few drinks. In the summer check Roest often puts on brunch BBQs and other special eating and drinking events.

9. Westergas Market

When? June 4th
Where? Haarlemmerweg 8-10. 1014 BE Amsterdam

You’ll find stalls selling housewares, ceramics, apparel, vintage items, jewellery, accessories, illustrations, affordable art, kids’ products, and delicious organic food and drinks. Along from shopping and munching, there’s much for both children and adults to do, such as creative classes, live music, and, of course, enjoying the nearby park.

10. Friday Night Skate Amsterdam

When? On Friday night – weather permitting

Where? Vondelpark

Friday Night Skate in Vondelpark, Amsterdam is an exciting event that takes place every Friday evening from April to October. Thousands of skaters from all over the Netherlands, and even beyond, come together in the beautiful Vondelpark to skate under the stars. The event is completely free and it is a great way to get outside and get active.
