Returning for the second year, Ride London is back on the cards for the 9th and 10th August 2014. This flagship event was created to encourage cycling after the extreme increase in London since 2000. So, if you want to follow in the tracks of Olympic cyclists, jump on your bike and head over to Ride London!
The event welcomes everyone, novice or a professional, to enjoy two days of cycling events held across London and Surrey. The idea of the event is to raise more awareness towards cycling and its benefits and try and get more people on their bikes. Roads will be closed across the capital on both days, so the races and events are safer for all who participate and for spectators too.
As transporting your own bike to London can be difficult, many places will be hiring out bikes so you can still join in:
- Barclay’s Bike Hire (AKA Boris Bikes): these are readily available throughout most of London at their docking stations, including one located on Great Percy Street, next to Clink78.
- The London Bicycle Tour Company: they rent out bikes privately, for personal use. Their prices start at around £20.00 per bike for a day, but booking is required.
