Why Amsterdam?
Year after year, people from all around the world flock to the city of Amsterdam and for good reason – there are loads of exciting things to see and lots of awesome activities to take part in. But… as we all know, when traveling in large numbers things can get a little bit stressful. So, we have devised a few top tips to help you make the most of your group trip to Amsterdam!
Top Tips:
1. Be prepared for all weathers
The weather in Amsterdam is a mixed bag, one second it’s beaming sunshine and then the next it’s blustery with grey skies – so make sure you pack a jacket. There’s nothing worse than traipsing around the city while you’re soggy. Don’t worry too much about it though, whatever the weather, it’s still a great place to visit.
Be prepared: Bad weather can cause travel disruptions at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. If you’re travelling during the winter months make sure to regularly check their website for flight updates!
2. Book accommodation in advance
Compared to other major European cities, Amsterdam is quite small. This is great because it means that you’re never far away from the action. However, this also means accommodation can get booked up quickly – especially when you’re in a large group or there’s a big city event taking place.
Good to know: ClinkNOORD is a great place to stay as a group in Amsterdam. It’s just a short ferry ride from Centraal station and can accommodate School and University groups as well as large groups of friends.

3. Plan your activities
This one’s a bit of a no brainer. No matter how long your stay, it’s next to impossible to see everything this wonderful city has to offer in just one trip. We recommend booking a 3-4 day stay and planning visits to no more than two or three attractions every day. This way you will have enough time to get acquainted with the city and won’t have to rush from one place to the next. You’ll also then have time for any unexpected discoveries.
Group-friendly activities/places:
Rijksmuseum
Van Gogh Museum
Vondelpark
Dam Square
Canal Tour (book at ClinkNOORD reception)
Good to know: There are over seventy museums in Amsterdam and most are group friendly – make the most of them!

Good to know: We know that organising food for a group can be a daunting task, but don’t panic. We offer free breakfast to every large group (21 people +) and options of packed lunches and set evening meals!

5. Avoid tourist traps
Amsterdam is an incredibly fun and lively city, but with lots of visitors, of course, comes lots of tourist traps. If you’re planning a trip to Amsterdam, make sure you read our handy guide on tourist traps to avoid, so you know which ones to avoid (and what you could do instead). Some touristy places are great fun, so don’t miss out on the main attractions for fear of them being overcrowded. The best thing to do if you’re a large group is to visit these areas during the week, this way you’ll avoid the larger crowds.
