London is very well known for it’s many, many weird and wonderful markets spotted all over. Whether you like to sample food, love to go clothes shopping or just love local antiques, there is a market for you in London. We have decided to put together a list of which ones we think are the best and are a definite must when in the capital.

Camden Market – Closest Tube Station – Camden Town Station

Camden market is a alternative market, that consists of several small markets, all located at the north end of Camden Town in Central London. It is right in the centre of Zone 2 for the underground, so it is easy and cheap to access, also it is only a 20-30 minute walk from Kings Cross Station. It has a large array of clothes and food stalls, as well as many bars, cafes and restaurants. It also has many many alternative shops like New Rock (gothic footwear), Cold Steel (piercing shop) and the scary but spectacular Cyberdog (not for the easily offended).

Borough Market – Closest Tube Station – London Bridge

Borough market is one for the foodies, top chefs, caterers and people just looking for good, local fresh food. There are hundreds of things to choose from, like cured meats, tapas, cheeses, herbs, spices etc. All in the very busy, stereotypical London Market. This market can be one of the busiest around, so it is best to attend this market on either a Saturday morning, first thing or after midday during weekdays, but please note that it can be a bit pricey at times, so get your haggling boots on. There are also many cafes and restaurants, serving food from all around the world, so you can go and just have a look, while taking in some lunch.

Bricklane Market – Closest Tube Station – Liverpool Street Station

Bricklane original stated with just a few bric-a-brac stalls and mats and some fruit stands, but every year the market gets bigger and bigger, so you can now get anything there from furniture to Jewelry, to basic Knick-knacks. The overwhelming smell of curry lingers around the very Eastern Market with the busyness of the East End. If you love curry and vintage items, then this is the best market for you, just don’t be bullied into the first curry house you see by the staff on the streets.

Broadway Market – Closest Tube Station – Hoxton or Bethnal Green.

Broadway market, is a market for the hipsters out there, that want to sample a Local London market. Broadway, although smaller than brick lane, is still massively popular. The market almost closed down, but after a re-vamp in 2014 the market is now one of the most popular around, especially for those who like a more vintage or hipster look. There are many shops that sell locally made art and ceramics. To get more hipsters in, the market has banned the handing out or sale of plastic bags, instead you can buy environmentally friendly bags from most of the local properties. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, this market will also be great for you too, as there are sweet, cake and pastry stores a plenty, all over the streets.

The above markets are just some of our personal favourites, but there are many many more available, which we have detailed below:
