Where? Location revealed on the day of event
Why go?
For a taste of cool and creative London
How much?
££

If you’re looking to impress your date with your forward planning and insider knowledge of London’s music scene then you’d do well to grab some tickets for a Sofar Sounds gig. Sofar Sounds organise gigs in unique and interesting locations around the city. From abandoned churches, to living rooms and old warehouses. The artists and venue are kept secret until the day of the gig, so there’ll be an element of mystery to your date – always good in our books! Who knows, you and your other half could catch the ‘next big thing’ and reminisce about it when you’re old and grey. If that ain’t romantic, we don’t know what is!

Visit a museum after dark

Where? All around London
Why go?
For the best possible mix of culture and nightlife
How much?
££

Museums by day are all well and good, but we much prefer them at night – and with a glass of red wine in our hand! Especially for a date. Over the past few years, loads of London museums and galleries have upped the ante on their late-night offerings, opening their doors after dusk and putting on various special events and exhibitions. These London institutions come to life with music, performance, installations, film and debates. Take your pick from a host of late-night openings across the city. The V&A was one of the first museums to open in the evening and we reckon it’s still one of the best events in town.

You’ll find it all at The Electric Cinema in Notting Hill and we can’t think of a can’t think of a cosier, more luxurious way to spend an evening with your other half. Now, order your drink from one of the skilled barkeeps, put your arm around your date and settle in for the night.

Ramble your way to the pub

Where? Hampstead Heath (or any other one of London’s green spaces or canals)
Why go?
For some fresh air and a cosy fire
How much?
£

Sometimes the simple date ideas are the best. Wrap up warm, go for a ramble (that means a ‘leisurely walk’ for you non-Brits!) and then find a cosy pub with a fire where you and your love can settle in for the afternoon with a bottle of red (check out our guide to The Coolest Winter Bars in London here). London has some amazing green spaces. For a proper feel of being in nature we recommend a visit to Hampstead Heath. With its huge trees, rolling hills and natural ponds you’ll feel like you’ve had a real escape out of the city. With rosy cheeks and fresh air in your lungs, you’re bound to feel romance in the air.
