Staying in a dorm room is a great way to meet people from all around the world. It’s super affordable, adventurous and great fun! However, to really gel with your dorm mates, it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with the subtle art of dorm room living – especially if you’ve booked a long term stay.

1. Keep it tidy!

This one is a no brainer. No one staying in a dorm wants to spend hours tidying up after their dorm mates. Removing someone else’s underpants, towel or toiletries from the floor between bunks shouldn’t be part of a morning routine. If you need an example of how pretty our dorm rooms can look when they are spick and span, check out the picture below.

2. Make friends

Staying in a dorm long term is the perfect opportunity to make some pals, so take time to get to know your dorm mates and other people staying in the hostel. Although it’s super easy nowadays to stay connected to friends back home, nothing beats a real-life interaction. Why not cook dinner together, go on a walk to discover the local neighbourhood or simply share stories over a coffee? You never know, you might become mates for life!

3. Do go half-board

After a long day of work, studying or exploring, what could be better than returning home to a tasty home-made meal. With our half board package, you get a scrumptious evening meal and breakfast from as little as €45 a week. Plus, our team will take care of the washing-up. What a bargain!?

4. No snooze alarms

Some people like to snooze in the morning, others jump straight out of bed and are ready to tackle the day. One thing is for certain, hitting the snooze button and having your alarm go off 10 times in an hour is no fun for anyone. Do the other guests in your room a favour and set it to vibrate or at least limit the snoozing!

Not only are they a great way to keep you busy whilst things across the city get back to normal, but also they’re the perfect time to meet people staying at the hostel.
