Not known for it’s tropical climate, you’d be forgiven for thinking that everyone in Amsterdam hides away inside when the winter rolls around.
We took three Clink backpackers out in Amsterdam Noord and beyond to prove that there’s plenty to keep you entertained in the winter months. The festive period may be over but we think it’s a great time to get out and explore the city. Take a trip to this cozy pavilion where you can enjoy great food, drinks and music and know that you’re helping towards creating a greener Amsterdam. The team behind Cafe De Ceuvel are working on it becoming totally self sufficient.

IJ Hallen Flea Market
Fancy being able to say that you’ve been to Europe’s biggest flea market, well one visit to T.T Neveritaweg and you can. With over 450 stands to peruse there is undoubtedly something for everyone.

Top tip: Snap up a bargin at this huge flea market and try the Poffertjes from the stall outside – these are a Dutch sweet treats, a bit like a mini pancakes!
Noorderlicht Cafe
Noorderlicht, translated to Northern Lights, is the place to be if you’re looking for some delicious fresh organic food in a unique location with lovely, creative people.

Kerstfair Markt
This gorgeous Christmas market is only around for a few weeks before Christmas, so it’s the perfect place to pick up that unique Christmas gift for a loved one back home.

Amsterdam Light Festival
With walking routes, and routes to enjoy from the water, there is something for everyone in this 55 day festival, with installations from local and international artists, it will no doubt light up your winter season.
