Since opening in 1973, the Van Gogh Museum has become one of Amsterdam’s most famous attractions, admitting more than 1.9 million visitors in 2015 and ranking 31st on the list of the world’s most visited art museums.

The museum is famous for its eclectic collection of Van Gogh paintings and drawings – the largest collection of his work in the world – and for its Impressionist and post-Impressionist exhibitions. As well as featuring works by Van Gogh, the museum features many of the artist’s contemporaries, including paintings by Claude Monet, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Emile Bernard.

In October 2015, the museum became home to the Zeng Fanzhi – Van Gogh, a stunning exhibition by the contemporary Chinese artist. The exhibition features five of Zeng’s works, each of which has been uniquely inspired by Van Gogh and Chinese art. Zeng’s exhibition runs until the end of February.
