London Fields is nestled in the London borough of Hackney. The first record of the park dates back to 1540 when it was used by farmers as a feeding stop for animals, before being taken to market in London. The Park is now a real East London hot-spot, boasting a cricket club, heated lido and cafe, BBQ area, tennis courts, pub and Saturday’s Broadway Market – one of the best places for street food in the capital.

The Market

Just south of London Fields is Broadway Market, where every Saturday people flock from all over London to enjoy the incredible food on offer.

Things kick off around 11am when the smell of street food begins to fill the air and the pubs open their doors to the hoards of hipsters ready to drink their hangovers away. Over 100 stalls stock and cook an eclectic selection of culinary delights including: local cheese, Korean pickles, olives, popcorn, burgers and slamming Buttermilk Fried Chicken. There’s also a handful of stalls selling vintage clothes too.

Where is best to eat? If you like your chicken, then head to Butchies where the Clancy Wigam (£8) a buttermilk fried chicken burger with guacamole, bacon and chipotle mayo will leave you rolling around the floor in delight. Grab one and head to the park with one of their Mexican Colas (£2).
