Terms and conditions


Guests

Arrivals and Departures

Check-in at Clink i Lár Dublin is from 3pm, and at our other hostels it is from 4pm. If you arrive before then we have a handy luggage room – dump your bags and go explore!

Check-out is by 10 am so please make sure you (and your belongings) are out of the room by then. Luggage storage can be arranged with reception. If you’re late to check out then you’ll be asked to pay for another night, so make sure that alarm is set!

All our hostel guests can stay for a maximum of 14 days in a 28-day period.

Identification

Please make sure to bring valid photo identification with you, a passport, government-issued I.D. card or driving license – no photocopies will be accepted. You’ll need this to check-in, so don’t forget it!

For guests travelling to Clink i Lár in Dublin: Please bring a valid government-issued ID (passport, national ID, driver’s license from North America, Australia, or EU, or Garda Age Card for Ireland). Photocopies and residency cards/visas are not accepted.

Age Restrictions

Bookings cannot be accepted by any person under the age of 18 unless they are accompanied by an adult (18 or over). Guests who wish to bring their children under 16 years of age must book a whole dorm or private room. For guests aged 16 or 17 years of age, they can book into one of the dorm rooms but must be accompanied by an adult (aged 18 or over). Unlike some hostels, we do not have an upper age limit, but most of our guests are backpackers in the 18 to 30 age range.

Room Allocation

If you’re travelling with friends or family, our staff will attempt to put people travelling together in the same room, but this cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of hostels. If you want to make sure that you aren’t separated from your group, we suggest booking a private room or securing the entire dorm.

Please note that all our dorms are mixed unless a girls-only dorm is booked.

Payment

Clink Hostels are primarily cashless properties. Please be aware that we only accept Mastercard, iDEAL, Visa card payments for all bookings. The payment card must match the guest’s name on identification on arrival.
We do not accept American Express, Diners Club cards, or any other card. At ClinkNOORD we no longer accept cash payments. In all our other locations, we currently accept cash for food and beverages.


In Amsterdam, a City tax of 12.5% is not included in the room rate and will be added to your balance.

Please note that the city tax of Amsterdam increased from 7% to 12.5% on 1 January 2024. For all stays in 2024, the price will be updated to reflect this change.

Cancellation Policy at Clink Hostels

  • Non-refundable rates: This rate offers no flexibility on your booking along with a 10% discount. Non-refundable bookings cannot be changed or cancelled are prepaid. Full payment is required at the time of booking.
  • Semi flexible rates: This rate offers flexibility on your booking up to 7 days prior to arrival along with a 10% discount. Booking can be cancelled free of charge up 7 days before arrival. The total price of the reservation will be charged 7 days prior to arrival- You will be charged in the local currency of the property. If you notify us any less than 7 days before your arrival date, or in case of a no-show, you will not be entitled to a refund.
  • Fully flexible rates: This rate offers full flexibility on your booking up to 24hrs prior to arrival. Booking can be cancelled free of charge up to midnight 24hrs before arrival. The total price of the booking will be charged at midnight 24hrs before arrival in the local currency of the property. If you notify us any less than this time before your arrival date, or in case of a no-show, you will not be entitled to a refund.
  • Early bird rates: Are your plans unlikely to change? Book at least 30 days before your arrival date and get a special 15% discount. Early bird reservations cannot be changed, are prepaid and non-refundable. The total price of the booking will be charged upon booking confirmation.

If the total value of a single booking is greater than or equal to €1,000.00/£1,000.00, a non-refundable 20% deposit will be required at the time of the booking regardless of the rate type selected. The remaining 80% will be due in accordance with the cancellation policy of the rate (ie: if you book with a semi-flexible rate, the remaining balance will be paid 7 days before arrival).

If you arrive a day late without informing the hostel, we will try and find you a bed, but this may not be in the same room type booked and may incur extra charges.

Room Access & Key Cards

You’ll be given a key card when you check in which gives you access to both the hostel and your room. If you lose your key card, it’s £2/2€ for a replacement – so please keep it safe! Alternatively, you can check in online and use Goki on your phone to digitally access your room.

Special Offers and Packages

Clink Hostels run a variety of special offers and packages throughout the year. These are open to all guests except group bookings (over 10 people) to which different terms apply.

All packages, the Youth Discount rate and some other special offers are non-refundable once the booking has been completed. Please feel free to contact our team if you have any doubt.

Receipts and Invoices

If needed, we can provide receipts for proof of payment for your stay. Invoices, however, can only be provided after your stay by our reservations department for groups of 10 or more.

Guest Behaviour

Any guest who, in the opinion of our staff, compromises the comfort, safety, or security of other guests, staff, or local residents will be asked to leave the hostel premises and will not be given a refund.

Guests are expected to respect other guests as well as staff, local residents, and property.

No Smoking

Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the Clink i Lár, Clink261 or ClinkNOORD buildings. Any guest found smoking inside the building, outside of the designated areas, will be fined (£250.00 in London, €250 in ClinkNOORD and Clink i Lár) and asked to leave the premises immediately. A refund will not be issued for the stay.

No Drugs

Drug use is illegal in Ireland, England and most of the Netherlands. Any guest found using drugs within any of the buildings will be fined (£250 in London or €250 in ClinkNOORD and Clink i Lár). The guest will be asked to leave the premises immediately. A refund will not be issued.

Alcohol consumption

We will not serve alcohol to anyone under the age of 18.

Due to our bar license, guests cannot bring their own alcohol onto the premises of all Clink Hostels.

If you are found entering Clink261 with alcohol, you will be charged £50 or €50 in ClinkNOORD and €100 in Clink i Lár, and all alcohol will be confiscated until you leave the building at checkout. Alcohol is available in the bar and can be consumed there and in the surrounding designated areas only.

Personal Property

Each pod bed (in dorm rooms) has a personal locker for small valuables. For larger valuables, there are lockers located throughout the building. Please check with reception about the cost. It is a guest’s responsibility to ensure that personal belongings are always secure. Clink hostels accept no liability for the loss, theft, or damage to guests’ property, however, sustained or caused. We strongly recommend guests bring a padlock to use on luggage.

Damage to Clink Hostels’ Property

Guests will be expected to reimburse Clink Hostels for any damage caused by inappropriate behaviour during their stay.

Liability

Except in relation to death or personal injury caused by our negligence, Clink’s liability remains, always, limited to the value of the services booked, excluding any amendment charges paid to us.

Personal Data

Clink Hostels will only store and use information you supply to us, or which is supplied to us for the purposes of carrying out a contract with you and to inform you of other services and offers that we make available from time to time. Errors and Omissions

Any omission or error in sales literature, web pages/sites, order form, quotation, price list, order acknowledgment, dispatch note, invoice, or other documents issued by us may be corrected by us without liability. We will advise you of any changes at the time of booking or as soon as is reasonably possible thereafter.

Discretion

All bookings are subject to availability and Clink Hostels reserve the right to decline any booking at its discretion.

Refunds

In the event of Force Majeure (governmental action, transportation interruption, terrorist attack, acts of God…) affecting your booking, Clink is unable to refund customers, and we reserve the right to receive any outstanding payments in connection to your confirmed booking.

Pets

No pets or animals are allowed in our hostels, apart from guide dogs!

Extension leads & adaptors

The use of extension leads is prohibited at Clink Hostels. Please ensure the adaptors you use are quality assured.

Gift Cards

Gift cards are non-refundable and have no cash value. Our gift cards are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. To redeem please get in touch with our customer service team (via phone/email) and provide them with your gift card code. Gift Cards are not redeemable through the website, nor can they be applied retrospectively to a booking that has already been paid for. You must redeem your gift card before the expiry date specified in the email you’ll receive, as it won’t be redeemable afterwards. The gift cards are purchased in GBP. Should you wish to use them for a booking in EUR we use the daily currency exchange rate.

Groups

Accommodation Terms & Conditions

Group conditions apply to all groups of 10 people or more.

Age restriction: For ClinkNOORD and Clink i Lár guests must be 15+ years old for arrival between March and October (included) and 12+ years old from November through February (request ONLY – we will need to be told at the time of booking). An age restriction of 18+ always applies for Clink261.

Due to the layout of the buildings and the room types chosen, we can’t always accommodate groups on the same floor. We will, however, do our best to place them as close together as possible.

We must receive a rooming list for each group at least 7 days prior to arrival. This list must include the names of the guests, what room type they are staying in, the names of the leaders and the number of under and over 18-year-olds.

We do not offer coach parking.

Meals and Services Terms & Conditions

We offer discounted breakfast as such it can get busy in the mornings! To make sure we can accommodate all groups, we ask that you to book a 30-minute slot at the time of confirmation. Time slots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Slots will be allocated automatically if we don’t hear from you.

Please note that the following restrictions apply on the maximum number of guests:

ClinkNOORD – 75 guests

Clink i Lár – 50 guests

Clink261 – 20 guests

All menu and dietary requirements must be confirmed at least 2 weeks prior to your group’s arrival. If it is not communicated within 2 weeks of the arrival date, Clink will choose which food will be served.

Payment policy

Flexible rates

20% of the total amount is due immediately after booking confirmation. This is non-refundable.
The balance equal to the remaining 80% of the amount is due within 30 days before arrival. 40% of the total amount is due within
60 days before arrival.

Without a deposit or balance payment paid within the time frame above, the booking will be automatically cancelled. All payments must be made by card or bank transfer to our designated account and in the currency of the country in which the Hostel is situated. You are responsible to pay all the bank charges associated with such payments. Bank transfers will be accepted up to 30 days before arrival – If you are late paying your balance or add extra beds less than 30 days before the arrival date, we will request a payment by card. Any extra charges (meals, tickets for attractions, airport transfers, etc) must be paid either as they are incurred or at the time of balance payment.

Cancellation policy

Modifications and cancellations are only allowed with flexible rates.

1. Full cancellation:
i) Groups of 10-99: up until 30 days before arrival date (the 20% deposit is non-refundable).
ii) Groups of 100 or more: up until 60 days before arrival date (the 20% deposit is non-refundable).

2. Partial cancellation:
You can decrease the initial amount of beds booked by up to 10% per night.
The deadline to make these changes is the last payment date – 30 days before arrival.

To cancel your booking, you must inform our group reservation team by email only at:               

Partial cancellations and amendments are subject to date and rate restrictions. Examples of these are minimum stays as well as dates that closed for arrival or departure and changes in price.

We reserve the right to cancel a booking if:

  • There is a reasonable operational reason for us to do so.
  • The booking may be prejudicial to the reputation of the Company or the Hostel.
  • We become aware of an adverse change in your financial status, and we reasonably consider that you may not be able to meet your payment obligations under the contract.

In such circumstances, we will issue a full refund, but we shall have no further liability to you arising out of such cancellation. In certain circumstances, we may, however, use reasonable endeavours to try and re-locate any confirmed booking cancelled by us to an alternative location nearby similar in standard to the Hostel.

These T&Cs and groups guidelines exist to make sure that your group and Clink enter a relationship of mutual understanding and to make sure that Clink is a safe, happy, and welcoming place to stay.

By confirming a group reservation at Clink Hostels, you are agreeing to the above important points.

Arrivals and Departures

Groups are required to check-in and check-out all together. If this isn’t possible, please advise the Group Sales Team in advance of your arrival.

We will accommodate the number of people in the room types pre-confirmed by you via email. If more people arrive, they will be asked to pay the available rate at check-in.

We are unable to checked-in a group until full payment has been made and house rules have been signed by the group leader(s).

Check-out is at 10am. If the rooms are not vacated by that time, a fine will be applied.

We offer free shared luggage storage before check-in and after check-out. Due to limited space, please let us know in advance if this is something your group requires.

Reception is open 24/7, so there is always a member of the team to help you and your group with any questions.

In House

An 11 pm curfew is in place for all guests under the age of 18, so please make sure any guests under 18 are in their rooms by then.

Due to our bar license, guests cannot bring their own alcohol onto the premises of all Clink Hostels.

If you are found entering Clink261 with alcohol, you will be charged £50 or €50 in ClinkNOORD and €100 in Clink i Lár, and all alcohol will be confiscated until you leave the building at checkout. Alcohol is available in the bar and can be consumed there and in the surrounding designated areas only.

Smoking inside the building is against the law. Any guest found smoking in the building will be fined £50.00/€50.00.

Any guest found using drugs in the building will be fined £250.00/€250.00 and asked to leave the premises immediately; no refund will be offered.

Guests will be expected to reimburse Clink Hostels for any damages caused by inappropriate behaviour during their stay.

We can’t accept the delivery of packed lunches/tickets ordered by external companies at any of our hostels. If you’re looking for lunches or tickets for your group, we can arrange them – just let us know.

Please make sure guests in your group have adequate travel insurance. We can’t take responsibility for any lost or stolen property.
