It’s back, and it’s bigger than ever: The London Anime and Gaming Convention (LAGC)! Returning on 7th and 8th February 2015, the event will be held at the London Met University site. If you think last year’s sell out event was huge, you are in for a treat this year.

That’s because extra space has been hired so that more people can enjoy the activities. This includes an extra room within the complex for all gaming and gamers, and 50% more seating in the upstairs area for the live stage.

Tickets for the event are £20 for both days and can be bought from the London Anime and Gaming Cons website.

So, what’s on?

Anime and Manga

This year the LAGC are happy to welcome a range of high profile names from the world of Anime and Manga, including Christina Vee & Christine Marie Cananos who will be giving talks and Q&As. Vee and Cananos are known for doing the voices of many characters in Anime and Games, including Pokémon, Bleach and Tekken.

Thanks to MVM Films, you will be able to catch a host of new and old animes and mangas throughout the weekend at the full sized cinema. However, Third Window Films and Terracotta productions will take over at 7.00pm on both nights to show the best from Asian Cinema from both this year and last year.

Other activities include:

  • Workshops
  • Creator and Fan talks
  • Manga Workshops
  • Artist Alley

Gaming

Following the merge of the two events, the gaming section took the biggest hit and had to significantly downsize. However, this year, gaming will get their own section with a variety of different activities, tournaments and competitions for everyone to enjoy.

With over 100 setups and over 200 games to choose from, including brand new, unreleased titles, you will be spoilt for choice with what to play!

The whole area will be split into five different themed zones:

  1. Retro: If you are into the best that the 80s and 90s had to offer then the retro gaming section is perfect for you. Play and compete in great classic Nintendo, PlayStation and PC games, such as the original Mario Bros., Eco the Dolphin and Sonic the Hedgehog.
  1. Publishers and Indie: Check out and try the newest games and consoles, including titles that are due for release this year on the next generation consoles.
  1. Eclipse Arena LAN: Join in a Battlefield 4 or League of Legends tournament on the best and top end PCs.
  1. GAME Tournament: This has to be one of the most popular zones! Put your skills to the test against 100s of other gamers in many different games for the chance to win a trophy and other amazing prizes. Although most of the gaming events are open for everyone to enter, there are a few top champ tournaments that only the highest skilled can play.
  1. Even More Gaming: Whether you want to listen to guest speakers, Industry and Game producers and Gaming inspired Musicians, or want to play in the Arcade Zone or RPGing and Board game area, Even More Gaming is the zone for you.  Enjoy and experience the best types and influences of gaming, all in one place.

Cosplay

fashion

No anime convention would be complete without Cosplay – a more complicated form of fancy dress. Instead of popping down to the local costume shop, Cosplayers often make their outfit by hand to ensure it best resembles their favourite character or characters.

During the event there will be many events focused around all Cosplay, such as:

  • A Cosplay Masquerade: attendees will show off their best Cosplay for the chance to win prizes to the value of £300, if they come 1st 2nd or 3rd.
  • Q&As: enjoy talks and with well-known stars of Cosplay and get the chance to ask them your questions.
  • Relax: there will be a specialised chill out area for all Cosplayers to hang out with each other
  • Fun and Creative: be a part of dance offs, educate yourself with cosplay tutorials and auction yourself to raise money for charity.

Other Events and Activities

party

If you’re looking for something a bit different, there are plenty more events and activities to choose from:

  • Check out up and coming J-Pop, Rock and Metal acts from the area
  • Party the night away with professional dancers and compete in dance offs
  • Show off your best talent to everyone at the convention in the talent show
  • Share your knowledge of anime, gaming and general subjects in the Otaku Pub Quiz
  • Relax with a cup of tea and cake served by cosplay maids and butlers at the Cosplay Café
