We’ve got a truly international team working at Clink. To celebrate the festive season, we decided to ask some of them about their favourite Christmas traditions and memories from their home country!
Anais, French
Events Co-ordinator at ClinkNOORD
Anais is in charge of planning events at ClinkNOORD in Amsterdam. From live music at ZincBAR, to cocktail making workshops to solo traveller meet ups, Anais is always working to make sure there’s loads of fun stuff going on for our guests in Amsterdam!
Her favourite Christmas traditions: ‘Eating a lot, drinking a lot, singing a lot and dancing until the small hours of the morning!’
Her favourite Christmas memory: ‘A singing competition we used to have between the older and younger generations – each trying to be the loudest!’
Kike, Spanish
Receptionist at ClinkNOORD
Kike is one of our superstar receptionists at ClinkNOORD. You might not believe it looking at his picture, but he’s always ready to welcome guests with a smile!
His favourite Christmas tradition: ‘Eating lots of Polvorones and Matecados – typical cakes from Spain.’
His favourite Christmas memory: ‘When I was young and still believed in Father Christmas – or Papa Noel as we call him in Spain!’
Duarte, Portuguese
Bar & Events Manager at Clink261 and Clink78
Duarte keeps ClashBAR jumping with loads of great events. He’s also a real whiz when it comes to making cocktails, so next time you’re staying, be sure to join him for one of his workshops!
His favourite Christmas tradition: ‘They’re mainly to do with food! We have this amazing desert made with pumpkin which is then fried and covered in sugar and cinnamon – called “dreams”. I’d say that’s my favorite.’
His favourite Christmas memory: ‘My best memories are definitely the huge lunches we had on Christmas Day at my aunt’s house. 30 people around one big table having a 6 hour lunch and showing off presents :)’
Sarah, Dutch
ClinkCREATIVE Co-ordinator at ClinkNOORD
Sarah is queen of our ClinkCREATIVE programmes. She works with artists and musicians who come paint, play and create in the hostels!
Her favourite Christmas tradition: ‘Playing and listening to typical Christmas songs all day and singing along. There’s one in Holland about a rabbit called Floppie which I really love!’
Her favourite Christmas memory: ‘A few years ago I managed to take a good few days off work. It was so nice to just do nothing, sitting in my pyjamas on the sofa and taking life in a ‘slow down’ modus :)’
Fabio, Italian
Project Manager
Fabio works behind the scenes to make sure that Clink’s projects are running smoothly. He’s a real plate spinner but will always make time for a cup of tea and a chat!
His favourite Christmas tradition: ‘The big dinner that we have on the 24th December. Friends and family come together and eat lots of delicious food and drink wine. For us in Italy, this is a more important day than the 25th December.’
His favourite Christmas memory: ‘It has to be the first Christmas of my daughter. Even though she’ll be too young to remember it now, for me it was very magical.’
Lucia, Italian
Sales Executive
Lucia is our wonderful Sales Manager. She’s always full of energy and happy to help out wherever she can! You can catch her in our recent Speak Out Challenge video. Check it out if you fancy a chuckle.
Her favourite Christmas tradition: ‘The never ending Christmas lunch, especially the dessert (my absolute favourite!), pandoro with zabaione cream and panettone.’
Her favourite Christmas memory: ‘Walking in the snow with my whole family in the Alps when we spent the Christmas holidays in Austria – we were walking to digest the Christmas lunch, of course!’
