If you’re in London on Shrove Tuesday, then you’re in luck. London is full of some unreal pancake restaurants that you simply have to try whilst you’re in the city. And let’s face it, pancakes are delicious at any time of year. So even if you’re not visiting on Pancake Day, these pancake places in London are still totally worth checking out.
Granger & Co

With four locations dotted throughout the city, you’ll never be too far from some of the best pancakes in London if you keep Granger & Co front of mind. The pancakes here are actually called Hotcakes (A term used in interchangeably with ‘pancake’ by Americans to describe those small, thick and fluffy American-style morsels of deliciousness we all know and love).
The Granger & Co Ricotta Hotcakes are, deservedly so, a legend in their own right. Three fluffy ‘cakes’ are served up with an insanely delicious honeycomb butter, sweet and sticky maple syrup and a slab of banana thrown in for good measure. Don’t bother looking at the menu, just order these. Trust us.
As with most of the very popular brunch spots in London, Granger & Co don’t take bookings and you can expect to wait for a while – particularly at weekends. If you have the option, we suggest planning your visit for a weekday morning when things tend to be a little less busy. The Wolsely
How much? ££ – £££ Why go? For a classic brunch at one of London’s most renowned dining institutions What to eat? Pancakes, with berries or bacon
If you’re in London and looking for a bit of a fancy breakfast experience, then look no further than The Wolsely. The great and the good of London dine at this institution and, despite its grand looking Art Deco interiors, the place feels relaxed, buzzy and welcoming to all. The menu is full of British breakfast classics including Eggs Benedict and Smoked Haddock Kedgeree which you can enjoy whilst doing some of the best people watching in town.
But it’s the pancakes at The Wolsely that keep us coming back for more. Perfectly indulgent without being obscene, this generous stack of fluffy and fat pancakes covered in berries, berry coulis and a big old dollop of cream are some of the best you’ll find in London. The perfect spot for a birthday, anniversary (or if you’re just in the mood to splash out on a cracking brunch this pancake day in London) The Wolsely comes highly recommended by us.

The Breakfast Club
How much? ££ Why go? For cosy vibes and some of the best American pancakes in central London What to eat? Pancakes and berries with whipped cream and syrup
As you’d expect from a café called The Breakfast Club (named in honour of the classic 1980’s movie) these guys know how to deliver the goods when it comes to a good morning feed. Their menu is a mash up of great brunch dishes from all over. From Mexican favourite Huevos Rancheros (‘Ranch Eggs’) to the Indian inspired ‘The Argy-Bhaji’ (Spiced onion waffle, chilli fried egg, spinach and mango chutney) there’s a lot to love here. Most importantly, their pancake offering is inventive and extensive. For the experimental amongst you, try the salted caramel banoffee pancakes. For the most part, we like to stick to the classics and The Breakfast Club’s Pancakes and Berries is a classic that needs no messing with. Stick your fork in, grab a good dollop of cream, syrup and berries and enter pancake heaven.

There’s a few Breakfast Clubs dotted around the city, but we personally love the original Soho branch with its egg yolk yellow frontage and home spun interior. A great spot for some of the best pancakes in Central London.

A London pancake restaurant that does what it says on the tin. ‘Where The Pancakes Are’ sells pancakes, pancakes and well … more pancakes. Whatever kind of pancake your heart desires, you’re likely to find it here. The sheer variety of what’s on offer is quite astounding so go prepared to be faced with some hard menu choices.

Whether you visit in the morning, daytime or evening you’ll be sure to find a pancake that takes your fancy. Choose from classics like pancakes with bacon and maple syrup to more unexpected offerings like the ‘Pulled Beef Pastrami Pancakes (two pancakes, slow cooked brisket, cheddar cheese, sauerkraut, gherkins, 1000 island sauce, kale slaw with toasted fennel seeds).
Choose from buttermilk pancakes, vegan pancakes or ‘Dutch Baby’ pancakes which are cooked in the oven and rise up around the edge, making them look a bit like a giant Yorkshire pudding. If you’re looking for the ultimate location to celebrate pancake day in London, then this is probably it. Bear in mind, it will be busy so if you want to nab a table, we’d suggest hot footing it to WTPA pretty early …

The Pavillion Café

If you like your pancakes served up with a side of gorgeous view, then look no further than The Pavillion Café in Victoria Park, one of our favourite pancake places in East London. This fabulous, bright and airy waterside café offers all manner of tasty brunch and lunch dishes with a focus on seasonal and ethical produce.
The Pavillion Café is the perfect place to end a weekend walk around one of Hackney’s most beautiful parks. And if you’ve walked a long when then you 100% deserve the incredible Pavillion Café Pancakes (and if you haven’t, you still deserve them too!) With buttermilk, banana praline and whipped cream you might indeed think you have died and gone to pancake heaven.

Long live the great British greasy spoon! Who, after all, doesn’t love a place where you can get breakfast all day? Granted, Hash E8 is rather more hipster-fied than your average caf selling Full English breakfasts to builders and pensioners, but it’s still got that cosy, buzzy feel that makes you feel right at home as soon as you step through the door. Their pancake offering is pretty much spot on with a trio of delights on the menu including buttermilk with maple syrup, blueberry with yogurt and white chocolate and caremalised banana. Tucked in right next door to Hackney Downs station, chow down on your pancakes and then go for a wander round nearby Netil Market (check when the market is running here).

Senzala Creperie Brixton

If you’re on the hunt for crepes rather than American Pancakes in London then Senzala Creperie in Brixton is the place to head. Brixton Village is jam packed full of hip little eateries and this is exactly where you’ll find Senzala. Their strapline is ‘French Crepes with Brazilian Flair.’ If that doesn’t sound exciting, we don’t know what does. For vegans, this place will be a godsend. Their galette batter (a galette is a savoury crepe) is vegan as standard (and also gluten free as it is made with buckwheat flour) and there are a number of vegan toppings available. If you’re in the market for something sweet, they also do vegan crepes to order. Non-vegans, however, certainly shouldn’t be put off. The crepes and galettes are all delicious here and there’s toppings to cater to every taste. Go classic with a Crepe Suzette or be adventures with the ‘Galette Picante’ which features spicy beef, onions, red peppers and jalepenos.’

Farm Girl Café

With its pretty pastel plates, pink tables and food that looks like works of art, it’s no wonder that Farm Girl Café is an Instagram favourite. If watching people taking photos of their food bothers you, this definitely isn’t the place for you. But if you can’t resist a sneaky food snap, then step right this way.
The menu at Farm Girl is decidedly health focused with ‘superfoods,’ nut milks and plenty of veg featured heavily on the menu. If you’re looking for a nice brunch out that isn’t going to leave you feeling sluggish and bloated afterwards, Farm Girl is for you. On the pancake front, their buckwheat and buttermilk pancakes topped with maple syrup, berries, coconut shavings & candied pistachios are surprisingly delicious. Oh and they’ll look great on your Instagram feed 😉
