Female-Only Hostels in Amsterdam

Two young women sitting cross-legged on beds in a bright hostel dorm room, chatting across from each other in front of a large window overlooking a canal.

Whether you’re exploring Amsterdam solo or planning a girls’ trip, staying in a hostel guarantees budget-friendly fun. You get to make new friends, join the hostel’s events, and stay near central locations like Museumplein and Centraal Station. Plus, for added comfort, safety, and privacy, you can opt for hostels with female-only dorms in Amsterdam.

At Clink Hostels, two of our Amsterdam properties have women-only dorms: Clink NOORD and Clink Mama, both centrally located and beautifully decorated!

How to choose female-only hostels in Amsterdam

Here’s your checklist for choosing a female-only hostel in Amsterdam, depending on what you’re looking for.

  • Browse by room type: For dorms, check how many people the room can accommodate. 4 to 10 is common. Most hostels have both mixed and single sex dorms, so double-check that yours is female-only to avoid any disappointment.
  • Check what’s provided: Lockers, bedding, and free WiFi are standard in most hostels. In some cases, for an added fee, you can also include breakfast, laundry, and towels.
  • Decide on the location: Where you’ll stay in Amsterdam will have a big impact on your trip. For first-time visitors, De Pijp and Waterlooplein are great choices, offering central locations with parks, cafes, and restaurants. If you want to see a different side of the city, consider the industrial neighbourhood around Centraal Station. It has a more local vibe and is close to the main train station, perfect for day trips.
  • Choose a hostel with common areas: Another huge benefit of hostels? Meeting people from all over the world! If that’s what you’re looking for, go for hostels with lounges, cafes, or bars. These are places where you’ll form connections with other travellers naturally, over coffee, beer, or breakfast.
  • Bonus points if your hostel organises activities: The best hostels organise all kinds of activities: free walking tours, cinema evenings, karaoke nights, you name it. In Amsterdam, Clink NOORD Hostel is the queen of activities, offering everything from workshops to parties.

Find your female-only hostel room based on your vibe

In Amsterdam, you won’t have a hard time finding restaurants, bars, clubs, art galleries, museums, or parks. And staying in the right hostel will help you make the most of them. Here are our hostel recommendations based on your travel style:

Solo adventure: Looking for the authentic A’dam experience

Mix community, sightseeing, and a central location at Clink NOORD’s dorms. You’ll find female-only rooms in 4 and 10-bed dormitories, featuring an en-suite bathroom. Clink NOORD organises activities every day: from cinema nights to salsa classes, there’s something for everyone. It’s also home to ZincBAR, which hosts live music and cocktail classes for both hostel guests and outside visitors.

Location-wise, you’re a few steps from the A’DAM Lookout, offering top-down views of the city, and the EYE Film Museum, blending film, cinema, and culture. Getting to Amsterdam Centraal Station takes a couple of minutes using the (free!) ferry.

Girls’ trip: Spending quality time with friends

Channel your inner princess and relive the magic of teenage sleepovers in Clink Mama’s dorm rooms. Adorned with pink wallpaper, antique beds, and mirrors, dorms host up to 7 ladies. They come with shared bathrooms, towels, reading lights, and (wait for it…) complimentary nail polish, hair straighteners, and blow dryers, so you look and feel your best for the whole Amsterdam trip.

Within walking distance, you have the Rembrandt House Museum, the lush green De Plantage neighbourhood, and the Waterlooplein metro station to move around the city conveniently. To get your coffee fix for the day, look no further than The FIX, Clink Mama’s in-house cafe.

Bit of everything: Blending privacy with hostels’ social vibes

Are you interested in the social vibe of hostels but don’t want to stay in dorm rooms? Booking a private room is an option in many hostels, including Clink NOORD and Clink Mama, as well as another one of our great hostels, Clink Coco.

While it doesn’t have female dorms, Clink Coco has several private rooms hosting 1-3 travellers. Our guests love its stylish interiors, en-suite bathrooms, and central location. You’ll be a short walk away from Amsterdam’s most beloved attractions, including the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Heineken Experience.
